Continous development for the customers, with the customers. This company guideline has existed since 1865, when Ewald Winterhoff founded his saw factory and became a specialist for a wide variety of machine knives. The same applied to the Picard company. Both companies complemented each other so excellently that we merged them in 1997 in the 5th family generation. Since then, our customers have been relying on the entire know-how for demanding markets.

Our roots!
Special knife in the fifth generationDue to its history and special topography, the Bergisches Land region is considered the birthplace of the first major industries in Germany. The numerous small rivers were driving the water wheels for the hammers. A high level of manufacturing expertise developed here at an early stage. The demand for quality grew and a very special mentality in problem solving emerged. Knösterpitter was the nick name given to all those in the Bergisch Land region who took things into their own hands and solved challenges with skill and perseverance.
Our company headquarters in Remscheid, right in the heart of the Bergisch Land region, is by no means a coincidence. Experienced specialists and engineers have followed in the footsteps of the Knösterpitter. And even today, their tenacious attitude lives on, as we use know-how and creative ideas to develop precision knives that meet even the most demanding requirements to the highest degree.
